Natural skin care: Essential fats 'a must' for a glowing complexion
While a low-fat diet can help to maintain weight and avoid illnesses, ladies must ensure that they are consuming essential fats, in order to complement their natural skin care regime.
Skin therapist Louise Thomas-Minns said that "good" fats are needed by the body in order to rejuvenate and replenish the complexion.
"Essential fats are a must for healthy skin. They are vital to strengthen the cell membrane, to keep nutrients in and toxins out," she explained.
Oily fish, such as salmon and mackerel, raw nuts and pumpkin seeds are excellent sources of these essential nutrients, Ms Thomas-Minns advised.
In addition, the specialist said that stress can often show itself in the complexion, making skin "a window" for what is going on in a person's life.
A recent poll by Simple suggested that the continued uncertainty over the British economy is "playing havoc with our skin".
Lack of sleep because of anxiety over jobs fears is one of the primary affects, according to the research.
