Natural skin care: People need to know about sunbed dangers
Fans of natural skin care who use sunbeds should have better access to data which clearly sets out the dangers of the equipment, according to one expert who said that people have the right to make informed decisions.
Nina Goad, a spokesperson for the British Association of Dermatologists, said that the whole of the UK should follow the example of Scotland and enforce tighter regulations on sunbed operators.
"Part of the problem is that some sunbed suppliers are misleading their customers by advertising somewhat spurious health benefits but not providing them with information about the health risks," she stated.
The expert added that a lot has been done recently to educate people about skin cancer but there is still a long way to go.
Cancer Research recently stated that almost 90 per cent of people in the UK backed proposals to stop under 18s from using sunbeds following a poll.
