Natural sunblock: Sun safety messages 'slowly getting through'
The importance of natural sunblock and advice on how to stay safe in the sun is starting to be understood by the wider public, an expert has said.
Bevis Man from the British Skin Foundation said that "slowly but surely the sun safety messages are getting through" – however, he warned against complacency in the face of rising rates of skin cancers.
Cancer Research UK's 2011 SunSmart Campaign has revealed that more than two Brits under the age of 35 are diagnosed with malignant melanoma every day.
"Ideally, everyone would be aware of what to do to stay safe in the sun, but also be aware of what to look for in terms of changes to their skin and be able to look for possible signs of skin cancer. The bottom line is that if there are changes to your skin, its worth going to your GP to get them looked at," he explained.
Earlier this week, Mr Man advised fans of an all-year round glow to use natural fake tan, as the "safest" way to bronze.
