Organic products should display verification, expert claims
When purchasing organic skincare products it is important to check the items have been certified by an independent organisation.
This is according to policy advisor at the Soil Association Francis Blake, who explained this is the best way to ensure the goods are truly made from natural ingredients.
"The way that independent assurance goes these days - and what consumers really want - is some independent verification that the product is what it says it is," he stated.
Individuals were advised to look for Soil Association labels on items from the UK, while those that originate in France will feature mention of Ecocert and Italy and Germany will reference ICEA and BDIH respectively.
Mr Blake claimed checking for these verifications is one of the most reliable methods of confirming a product is produced in the best possible way.
The comments come after the Soil Association announced it has teamed up with four other European certification bodies to develop the COSMOS-standard international non-profit organisation AISBL that offers an internationally recognised standard for organic and natural cosmetics.
