Rachel Weisz beauty campaign banned
An advertising campaign featuring actress Rachel Weisz has been banned, after it was claimed images of the star were "misleadingly exaggerated".
The 41-year-old appeared as the face of L'Oreal's Revitalift Repair 10 product, in which she appeared to have a smooth and almost flawless complexion.
However, the moisturiser campaign has been attacked by the Advertising Standards Authority for its use of digital enhancement and airbrushing.
The body defended its ban on the magazine advert, stating: "We considered that the image had been altered in a way that substantially changed her complexion to make it appear smoother and more even."
Liberal Democrat MP Jo Swinson supported the move, claiming it is time the beauty industry stopped "ripping off" consumers with inaccurate images.
Weisz is known for her appearances in several Hollywood films including The Constant Gardener, The Mummy and About A Boy, Runaway Jury, Enemy at the Gates and Dream House.
