The beauty boosting rose renaissance

Fans of natural skin care maybe interested to read about a recent article published in the Daily Mail.

According to the article rose is making a big beauty comeback.  Fed up with ineffective beauty fads and chemical laden treatments the rose is undergoing a renaissance as consumers seek out products with more natural origins.  Two different ingredients are derived from rose.  The first is rose water which comes from the petals and the second is rosehip oil which comes from the pressed rosehip.

The rosehips are the buds which are left at the centre of the rose after all the petals have dropped off.  Rosehip oil can be extracted using chemical solvents, cold pressing or by a CO2 super critical extraction process.  The later is preferred by organic skin care brands because it preserves all the naturally active ingredients in the oil plus it does not leave behind any residual chemicals.

Rose water is extracted through a steam distillation process of rose petals and it is used in natural mists, toners & perfumes

One of the reasons for the rise in the popularity of rose in beauty treatments is its versatility - it suits all skin types and can treat numerous complexion issues.  Rosehip oil is renowned for reducing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles, fading age spots & scar tissue as well as helping conditions like acne & rosacea.

The oil delivers health, nourishment and radiance to the skin that is hard to achieve with other ingredients.  Top on the list is Vitamin C, Vitamin A and a variety of essential fatty acids which help skin retain its suppleness.

Products rich in rosehip oil include the entire Kosmea range which has been formulated with rosehip oil at the heart of every product.  Then there's the A'kin range which has a number of rosehip inspired products including a rosehip & shea moisturiser, a 100% certified organic rosehip oil, a facial serum and a rose water facial mist
