Thicker moisturisers advised for winter
It is important to adapt skincare routines and invest in a slightly heavier moisturiser during the winter months.
This was the advice given by corporate trainer at the International Dermal Institute Victoria Evans, who explained how harsh weather conditions and fluctuating temperatures can have a negative effect on skin.
"Most people find that when the climate changes, they usually experience dryness and chapped skin and the skin becomes a little bit more sore, or irritated and flaky," she stated.
It was suggested moving from heated buildings to the freezing outdoors can leave the face dehydrated and feeling sensitive.
In order to combat this, Ms Evans recommended investing in "salve-like" cleansers and moisturisers that provide a more protective layer against the elements than regular products.
Louise Thomas-Minns, skin therapist and founder of Uandyourskin.co.uk, recently advised people to apply moisturiser to slightly damp skin as it will help keep it hydrated.
