Twilight helps to encourage natural beauty
The hit vampire book series Twilight has helped to encourage more young people to embrace their own natural beauty, according to one expert who said that teenagers are less likely to pile on bronzer or fake tan in order to keep a pale appearance.
Jane McKay, a senior artist with MAC Cosmetics in Toronto, said that fewer young people are asking for products which alter their natural skin tone and instead opt for vampire-style paleness.
"The first Twilight movie sold Marta Tryshak, a 21-year-old University of Toronto student, on Bella and Edward's faded beauty. Tryshak says she likes the pale skin tones, flushed cheeks and natural lip tones," stated the Associated Press.
Ms McKay added that Twilight has definitely influenced the new trend for paler complexions.
Liz Hoggard, of the London Evening Standard, recently said that smoky eyes and dark makeup were prevalent throughout London Fashion Week, with top designers using the style.
