Use natural products to avoid allergies, expert warns

Use natural products to avoid allergies, expert warns A build-up of toxins in the body can cause people to develop allergies as their immune systems struggle to cope with an overload of chemicals.

This is according to physiotherapist and complementary health practitioner at the Wyndham Centre Alison Wyndham, who explained how modern lifestyle choices are behind many diseases.

She claimed people live in "toxic environments" and regularly expose themselves to products that contain chemicals their livers cannot cope with.

Individuals may want to consider switching to natural deodorant, as the expert commented that reducing the body's contact with "pollutants" could ease symptoms.

"Try to reduce the amount of chemicals you use, such as chemical toxins from cleaning products and deodorants," Ms Wyndham advised.

It was noted the ingredients found in many products are "very resistant" and difficult for the body to break down.

Ms Wyndham remarked: "Toxins are pro-inflammatory and can compromise the immune system, making us more susceptible to allergies and sensitivities."

According to the specialist, exposure to pollutants can increase an individual's chance of falling ill, as there are said to be links between conditions such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity and chemicals.

As well as using natural cosmetics and beauty products, people can reduce their contact with toxins by steering clear of pesticides in foods and manmade ingredients found in medications.

Ms Wyndham recommended eating a varied diet made up of organic foods and fresh vegetables, which avoids all processed items.

She claimed keeping the body in an alkaline state helps to reduce the chance of developing allergies, with green vegetables and fruit the best options.

Meanwhile, sugar should be removed from the diet as it is a "very inflammatory food".

Nutritionist and author Suzi Grant recently urged people to eat plenty of superfoods such as avocadoes, as they contain essential fatty acids that are needed for hair, eye and skin health.
