Vitamins A and C great for natural beauty
People wanting to maintain great-looking skin should make sure they eat foods which contain plenty of vitamin A and C, according to one magazine, which said that eating less than you want is also good.
Stylist magazine looked into the health secrets of the inhabitants of the Okinawa Islands, which it said have a healthy lifestyle and manage to combine that with good social lives.
"The average life expectancy for a woman from Okinawa a group of islands in the Pacific, is 86 (average British female life expectancy is 79.9), and her risk of getting breast cancer is a quarter of that of the average British woman," it stated.
Eating fibre was also recommended by the magazine, because the islanders eat plenty of it.
Fans of organic skin care who want to reduce their chances of developing lung cancer should make sure they have a diet which incorporates a daily dose of pistachios, according to one expert.
Ladia Hernandez, senior research dietician in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Texas, said that the nuts contain high levels of gamma-tocopherol.
