A'kin's organic skin care contains 'proven beneficial extracts'
A'kin has launched its anti-ageing organic skin care products which promise to protect, revitalise and brighten complexions for a healthy, glowing look.
The company, which specialises in paraban free and sulfate free skin products, has released Hydro Essential Lavendar Cellular Brightening Facial Mist, which boasts a unique triple-action formula, and the Pure Alchemy Cellular Radiance Serum, a dual-action product which fights against cell damage.
A'kin's facial mist contains a potent vitamin C extract which brightens skin tone, while the vitamin B5 ingredient hydrates and soothes and aloe vera and hyaluronic acid work to protect the body's natural moisture barrier.
Meanwhile, the cellular radiance serum includes anti-oxidants which fight damaging free radicals and omega 9, 3 and 6 essential fatty acids help to maintain and strengthen the cell wall by controlling the oils that work to keep skin soft, smooth, firm and youthful-looking.
Active ingredients include certified organic sea buckthorn, pomegranate, rosehip, amaranth seed, chamomile and calendular extracts as well as echium oil, vitamin E and vitamin A.
Will Evans, technical director of The Purist Company, explains that the difference with Akin's cellular radiance serum is that it is a 100 per cent active product.
"It should be noted that most serums contain a large amount of water and the 'active' content is much less," he says.
"The extracts we have chosen are those which are proven to be of most benefit to the skin," Mr Evans adds.
He explains that most of the extracts used in the product are highly concentrated as they are produced using an award-winning new extraction technology which creates ingredients that are identical to the fresh plant by not using heat during the process.
Mr Evans highlights echium oil as one of the best components for maintaining healthy and glowing skin. It makes up 20 per cent of the cellular radiance serum.
"This is an amazing new ingredient," he enthuses. "It is available for use in cosmetics while efficacy trials continue prior to its use in pharmaceuticals."
Echium oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory, meaning it sooths the skin, and research has also suggested that it is a potent anti-wrinkle ingredient, Mr Evans adds.
He also stresses that the macadamia oil in the formula is closer in composition to the skin's natural oils than any other component due to its high content of palmitoleic acid.
Finally, he emphasises the benefits of organic skin care.
"Synthetics, being made in factories, are also likely to be contaminated with small levels of nasties like heavy metals due to the chemical processes they undergo and the by-products of chemical reactions that they may contain," he explains.
"Certified organic extracts give an additional guarantee of purity and must be produced sustainably to gain organic certification," he concludes.
